May 2019
In April a group of young people and their parents from Transform Training came to attend a Home Street Home session at our office and also learn about the other work we do at Broxtowe Youth Homelessness. They had lots of questions about homelessness, stereotypes but most importantly, how they can help!
The young people decided that they wanted to collect food and toiletries for our emergency parcels scheme so we discussed what items would be helpful and what meals they could make with certain ingredients. They came up with a long list of items that they were going to collect over the next few weeks.
In May 2019 Transform Training came back to the office to drop off the food and toiletries they had collected. We were absolutely astounded by the amount such a small group of young people had managed to collect in a matter of weeks!!! They had tins of beans, super noodles, milk and much more, which can all be used in our food parcels. They had collect it through speaking to family members, neighbours and friends, who had then also spread the word with certain group they were involved in.
Broxtowe Youth Homelessness would like to say thank you to the amazing young people who put in so much time and effort in supporting the work we do.
