Peer Educator Wins Centrepoint Partner Inspiration Award

December 2020

After a difficult year we had a wonderful day celebrating one of our Peer Educators, Christian Deslandes, who won the Centrepoint Partner Inspiration Award!!!

Christian first started working with Broxtowe Youth Homelessness in April 2019, completing Peer Mentoring and Peer Impact training and has since volunteered delivering homelessness prevention sessions in schools. Away from BYH Christian is also a Peer Mentor at his previous supported accommodation and has taken on various volunteer roles.

Christian’s determination to overcome a difficult start in life and a commitment to supporting other young people in similar situations was recognised today by Centrepoint. In a virtual awards ceremony he was praised by the CEO of Centrepoint, received a message from the actress Alice Eve, a signed letter from Prince William, a hamper from Selfridges (the event sponsors) and a personalised trophy.

We are so proud of Christian for getting this award, but also for his commitment to youth homelessness and being an important part of the BYH team!
